From the Director’s Desk
In contemporary, stiffly competitive environment, Industry is looking at employable manpower and is unwilling to bear or share the burden of skilling the unskilled. This response, as one can understand, appears to have been driven by competitive market forces and shopfloor technological advancement evolving at a rapid pace. Directorate of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship has a mandate to provide continuous flow of skilled workforce into the Industry in different trades/vocations covering traditional and emerging sectors like Automobile, Fabrication, Hospitality, IT and other service sectors.
The Department has under its ambit 10 Government ITIs and 3 ITIs from the Private Sector offering total annual seating capacity of 4468 seats. These unskilled youth of the State are provided with vocational skill training in different skill sectors through conventional and multiskilling programmes. Additionally, these Institutes offer Modular Employable Skills based programmes to cover the unorganized sector. Every Government ITI is governed by an Institute Management Committee (IMC) headed by a prominent Industrialist. The IMC acts as an effective feedback mechanism for catalyzing continuous improvement in our training standards. A World Bank funded Vocational Training Improvement Project and a Central Government funded PPP Scheme are also being implemented in the Government ITIs for creation of Centres of Excellence.
We are also moving towards the fulfillment of the expectation of Hon’ble Prime Minister by implementing Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana in the State.
We have a dedicated team of Officers and Principals, Group Instructors and Instructors who are working tirelessly towards achieving the goal of empowering the youth of the State with employable skills.
I am confident that our website would put this Department on the information super highway and assist the civil society to have clear perspective of our programmes and functionalities.
It is also hoped that our faculty and trainees will put this site to fruitful use, while exposing themselves to the vast frontiers of know-how, thus achieving progress in our efforts to think globally, while acting locally.
